Our client is the global world leader in hydraulics & fluid engineering with customers tending to be in mining, power generation, manufacturing, OEMs' & resellers. They are experiencing solid growth in the Newcastle area and seek a Sales engineer to work alongside the existing team.
Reporting to the State Manager and the National Sales & marketing Manager responsibilities of the position include:
- Manage and service customer accounts and distributors within the designated areas. In this case, primarily the Newcastle area and surrounds
- Identify and develop new business opportunities
- Achieve planned sales and margin targets
- Provide weekly and monthly reporting on target sales and margins
- Prepare, plan and report upon marketing activities
- Provide feedback to colleagues on competitor activity and pricing levels.
- Preparation of annual sales plan
- Provide technical assistance to clients
- Provide training and support to the internal sales engineer as required
- Plan and schedule regular face to face meetings with existing and prospective clients
- Timely and accurate responses to customer requests for information, quotations and tenders.
Ideally you will have the following:
- Minimum 5 years industrial sales experience
- Mechanical Engineering (degree/Cert/Dip) or trade qualifications desirable
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- The ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organisation
- The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Good communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Good time management skills
A competitive salary, work vehicle, phone and laptop provided.
Regular travel within your territory is to be expected equating to about 70% of your working week.
Regular training is a priority of this employer covering theoretical and practical product knowledge.
