SouthTech conducts a thorough assessment of all candidates’ suitability to be included in the shortlist for any particular role, with a focus upon the following criteria:

  • Applicant elimination based upon the Agreed Selection Criteria, which excludes candidates who do not possess a sufficient number of the required skills sets, qualifications, relevant experience, salary expectations, and any other factors deemed necessary.
  • Proof of qualifications and identity
  • Appropriate experience in roles with transferable skill sets
  • A stable employment history
  • A qualitative assessment by the interviewing consultant, covering key aspects such as
    • Interpersonal skills, verbal communications skills and team orientation
    • Cultural fit
    • Ability to cope with conflict and high pressure
    • Level of commitment and interest in the role
    • Intended time frame to commit to the role
    • Five and ten year career interests and objectives
    • Salary expectations and career progression ambitions

SouthTech follows a strict process when obtaining any candidate references, and adheres to all requirements under Australian privacy legislation. SouthTech will conduct reference checks for all short listed candidates to substantiate interview information.

SouthTech will conduct a minimum of two reference checks per candidate.  Reference checks will always be conducted with the consent of the short listed candidates and will include:

  • Nature of the candidate’s prior role and their key responsibilities
  • Technical skill sets and demonstrated capability
  • Assessment of their verbal and written communication skills
  • Fit with company culture
  • Ability to cope with pressure
  • Key strengths & weaknesses
  • Reason for leaving their last role
  • Recommendation for next step in career
